Online Auction Sellers ‘Weird Item Contest’ Kicks Off April 24

San Francisco, CA April 21, 2004--A group of sellers on the online auction site SellYourItem.com have banded together to make auction bidding and selling just a little more fun. The sellers -- who call themselves Club99SYI -- hold a monthly sales event in which participants start a minimum of 5 auctions at just 99 cents opening bid. Goods up for auction typically include collectibles, household goods, handcrafts and other unique items. Offering high quality goods at low starting prices brings an additional level of excitement to online auctions. In keeping with their mission to make auctions fun, the Club99SYI sellers are holding a contest for the “weirdest item” offered for sale during this month’s event, which runs April 24 through May 1.

Sellers will compete for the honor of “weirdest item” up for auction, using online auction listings to provide photos and descriptions. The auction seller whose item is judged the weirdest will win an original digital fractal artwork. Auction bidders are also eligible for prizes. The bidder who wins the most auctions will receive a choice of three hardcover fiction books, and a buyer chosen at random will win an optical mouse.

The contest winners will be posted in the Club99 Lounge by May 5.

Prize donors, as identified by their selling IDs, are: lanmom, who designs and produces the original fractal artwork; bookseller madorman, for the hardcover books; and 3162, who sells PC-related items, for the optical mouse. The host online auction site, SellYourItem.com, will donate a home page banner ad to the seller whose qualifying auction closes for the highest selling price.
